Scooter Decks
Decks for scooters – the foundation of your setup
The deck is the base of your setup, as it’s where you stand, land your tricks, and control the overall feel of your scooter. In this category, you’ll find a wide selection of models and sizes, giving you the chance to build or upgrade a scooter that matches your riding style, height, and skill level perfectly. Whether you ride park, street, or just want a stronger scooter for everyday use, picking the right deck is where it all begins.
How to choose the right deck
When choosing a deck, it’s all about compatibility, size, and strength. Most decks are made from aluminium to combine low weight with high durability, but the shape, length, and width can vary greatly. These factors affect stability, aerial balance, and how easily the scooter manoeuvres.
Pay close attention to the following details when comparing decks:
- Length (cm) – shorter decks are more playful and easier to whip, while longer decks provide greater stability and more foot room.
- Width (cm) – narrower decks are ideal for technical park riding, while wider options are better for street and rail use, giving you more control when grinding.
- Head tube angle – a steeper angle gives faster, more responsive steering, while a shallower angle feels calmer and more stable.
- Compatible wheel sizes – check the recommended wheel diameter and width to make sure your current or planned wheels fit properly.
- Brake/foot fender type – choose between a traditional brake or a fender, depending on whether you brake often or prefer a clean foot placement.
- Weight and construction – lightweight decks are excellent for park riding and tricks, while slightly heavier, sturdier builds are often preferred for tougher street sessions.
Always check the specifications for the head tube (integrated or non-integrated), wheel compatibility, and spacer setup to ensure the deck fits with your current fork, headset, and wheels.
Types of decks and use: park, street and allround
There are three main types to consider when choosing a deck: park, street, and allround. Park decks are typically narrower and shorter, focusing on low weight and fast rotations for tricks in ramps and boxes. Street decks are generally longer and wider, with square dropouts and larger grind surfaces for rails and edges.
Allround decks fall in between and are a great choice if you ride both park and street, or if you want one scooter for school, transport, and fun at the skatepark. Also think about where and how often you ride: daily use on tarmac with kerbs and stairs demands more wear resistance than the odd indoor session.
Durability depends on both quality and riding style. If you’re into heavy street riding with big drops and frequent grinds, a slightly heavier, stronger deck can be worthwhile. Lightweight park decks, on the other hand, need clean landings and careful handling to avoid putting too much strain on the material.
Level, safety and practical use
For beginners, a stable deck with a bit of extra length and width is often easier to learn on, providing a secure stance. Experienced riders and experts tend to go for more specialised decks tuned to their style, such as ultra-light park setups or durable street platforms.
Safety is closely linked to proper setup and maintenance. Always make sure the bolts are tightened correctly, the wheels spin freely without rubbing the deck, and that no cracks or damage are visible after hard landings. Inspect the head tube area and the underside of the deck regularly, especially if you’re doing a lot of grinds.
Once you’ve chosen the right deck, the next step is to match it with suitable wheels, a fork, bar, and clamp so that the whole scooter setup works smoothly together. Base your build around your main focus – park, street, or allround – and put together a scooter that best fits your level and riding style.
