Wheels for Scooters

Wheels for standard stunt scooters are made of urethane and are usually 100 mm or 110 mm. Some wheels have a diameter up to 120 mm or 125 mm, and use special forks designed for the big wheels.

The wheel rim is fitted with a tire of urathane that has a hardness that is measured on the duraeter scale, eg 88a. Hardness also has an impact on how easily it drives over unevenness and how good it is in the way. A soft wheel runs smoothly and has a good grip in the road, while a hard wheel is more sensitive to roughness and will have a smaller grip in the road.

The core material in the wheel can be plastic (nylon) or aluminum, and be designed as solid or spoked. The core material is of major importance for durability as an aluminum wheel is very powerful and has a longer life if you make many tricks. Plastic wheels are good enough for children or young people who do not push the equipment to the edge. If the core is solid or cut out is mostly a design and style preference, but if you go down into the details, solid core wheels are strongest and spoked wheels easiest.
